According to several articles published in the last couple of weeks by AppleInsider, new iMacs are on the horizon this summer.
Gathering data from these articles I comprised a list of possible new features we could expect.
I also included some personal thoughts, but I’ll mark those with square brackets [ ].
So, without any further fireworks here is the list:
- there is an 80% chance the new desktops will arrive in the next 2 months [(July - August 2007) So its best to hold on for a bit more if you're currently planning to buy a new rig]
- the new all-in-one desktops are expected only in 20 and 24 inch configurations [there won't be any models with screens below 20"]
- the new iMacs have been described as both slimmer and sleeker than the 17-, 20- and 24-inch models they will replace
- instead of the white plastic we might see brushed metal cases [personally, I think we will see a form factor pretty close to the current one, although I really hope for something sexier].
- a new super slim keyboard will be introduced. It’s said to draw upon the aesthetic and feel of the low-profile keyboard which was first integrated with the company’s 13-inch MacBook portables in May of 2006.
- [given the fact nVidia and ATI have released a new generation of video cards (DirectX 10 on PC), we might as well expect GeForce 8 series and Radeon HD 2000 series options. My bet is that we won't see anything below 256MB of video RAM but options for even more than 512MB].
This is all the information available at this moment.
I’m sure there will be a few surprises, as I stumble upon new rumors, I’ll keep you updated.
haha, interesting! Thx for sharing!
